Big things often have small beginnings

June 2020

If you are active on a number of fronts in the same organisation, you will benefit greatly from doing that based on a standard architecture methodology. And that's exactly what has happened in recent years within the Colruyt Group. Not only by the best-known brand, Colruyt Laagste Prijzen, but also by the online brands (Collishop, for example), non-food retail (Dreamland, for example) and even the energy division (DATS24). And the result? A solid Enterprise Business & IT Architecture methodology that's known for its intensity and completeness, which is supported throughout the entire organisation. Here, we talk about craftsmanship.

In our monthly updates we inform everyone about the upcoming trainings.

In our monthly updates we inform everyone about the upcoming trainings.

To all of us at Myreas, the logical following step seems to be to work out professional training around the methodology that forms the basis for that craftsmanship. Given that we all work at the same location, in the same context, with the same stakeholders and the same challenges, we're also capable of organising this training and coaching very efficiently and effectively. Check, check, double check!

We’ll be focusing in the short term on training new Enterprise architects within the Colruyt Group. At a later stage, Myreas will expand the target group to include C level and interested parties outside the Colruyt Group.

In the medium term, there is a clear ambition to evolve further. We want to share our knowledge and grow into the best EA training centre where EAs can learn how to translate strategies into Enterprise Business & IT architecture.

What are the major elements in the range of training opportunities at Myreas?

  • Integrated vision: we believe totally in the combination of Enterprise Business architecture with Enterprise IT architecture. For that reason, we cover both and do not separate them.

  • Define, change and govern: we don't focus solely on the strategic context (target operating model), the tactical (transition architectures, roadmapping...) and the governance to the operational context (solution architecture in projects) are also covered. That way, the architectural ambitions don't stop at being a dream, but are also effectively achieved.

  • The human side: as well as the traditional hard skills, we set great store by the soft skills you need to be an architect. An architecture is only strong if it's supported by the people who work on it.

  • End to end: we prefer to take one case as a practice example throughout the entire training material, to allow you to get to know all aspects of enterprise architecture and the connection between the various components.

  • On the job: we combine the training with on-the-job coaching so that we can respond as well as possible to realistic situations.

Where are we at present in this process?

Actually, at the very beginning. But we couldn't wait to tell you a bit about it. The preparatory steps have already been taken. The start sign has already been given for the composition and writing of the initial material so the next few months (June until October 2020) will be exciting. I can't wait to see the first results and the feedback!

And just to close with a fun fact: there's a lot of enthusiasm internally too at Myreas. No fewer than 16 Enterprise architects will be working on this project, to whom, through this channel, a big fat 'thank you'! .... More later!
